Drove 7 hours today back and forth to spend 2 with one of my best friends, and it was worth it.
She's still hoping she's well enough to come up here in two weeks, but we're both glad I went down. Cancer's a b-word.

Settling tonight is difficult.
Tuesday, I messaged my friend to see how radiation was going at Duke. The Chaplain was with her in that moment... there's nothing more to be done.
Tomorrow, I'm driving home to Wilmington to say goodbyes. And much as I've faced death before, this bloody aches.
