The Buffistas are still extant, pleased to say. I remember so many amazing conversations all over the place there. Some of the best discussions of race in America happened in MWT. It's a huge loss.

We had a little bump in the road today, but overall the clinical trial seems to be going well! We're excited and cautiously hopeful. And I realize how lucky I am in this--I had the exact genetic mutation they were looking at, by pure random chance.

Like my spouse, she's part of Generation Jones, a mini-generation at the tail end of the Boomers that aligns more with Gen X--music, art, film, attitudes towards work and family and politics very X'ish. And the better X'ers get on great with Millennials and Gen Z.

I love this. It's fascinating how beautiful and elegant plants are no matter how far you zoom in. For a while I was obsessed with pictures of mosses and lichens looking like tiny forests.

Ugh, I was stuck there for a long long time; just in the last 5-8 years something's come unstuck and I'm appreciated and compensated, but it was a long time coming. Fingers crossed you get here too; doggedly doing the work with none of the praise sucks.

The only thing I miss here is fannish stuff--there's still gorgeous, incredibly creative fic and fan art being shared on the bird site for all kinds of shows/films/comics (as well as amazing original art) that just isn't showing up here.

19/20 (never used dial-up) and I've listened to CDs, sent postcards, sent and received faxes and used paper checks within the last month. One of the people I sent a postcard to said, "I heard of these but I never got one before. They're so fun! Everyone should get postcards!"

It's a really narrow niche genetic mutation--I'm incredibly lucky to have checked in here for a second opinion and gotten on their radar; I don't know of anyplace else in my state that's enrolled with this trial.

Thanks! The hospital is lovely and all the people there are fab. I love the place where I work, too, but they didn't have this trial and this one at the other end of the state does, so... off I go, every two weeks.
