We are Americans living in France, and for our first five years here, we paid out of pocket and our private insurance reimbursed us. My husband had a trip in an ambulance to the hospital. We paid right then at the hospital. 89 euros, later reimbursed. Amazing. Vive la France !

We usually write it off as no pay, we submit a bill to the county and they pay only true expenses. Fuel, personnel, etc.
Here in states we negotiate with insurance companies like barter for onions at the market. Do we get $2000 ? No. But it's the start of negotiations.

Response by Medics w/ drugs and deemed to be a "Emergency " could be charged $2000
It's complicated but they are charging the insurance company knowing that they probably will never get paid by the patient

My first week in college, I sat on the stairs &read a book with my mints on top of my handbag &when people would walk by, I say “hi” to each one and ask if the wanted a mint.

Whenever I broke up with a guy or close friend, I would give myself a mourning period (stay home, indulge in take out food) but at the same time I would plan an activity out with others to end the mourning period.
