Good point. I feel like comments like this are evidence of a person growing up in an environment where punchdown jokes are the norm, and in turn are used so often they generate a social concept of those they punch down on.

There needs to be more forums on false equivalences for adults. I just feel like he could have easily QC'd himself on this before posting. He associates living in a trailer w/ being poor, and being low-income or impoverished is treated like an instant path to drug use. That's stigma, not privilege.

I am grateful to all who fought their cases, win or lose, for how they changed the legal system. In my generation, some pivotal events: Tarana Burke (MeToo Founder) 12 children (Jerry Sandusky), Chanel Miller (B. Tuner), 150 girls (Larry Nassar), Dr. Ford (Kavanaugh). Acts: VAWA, PREA, SADI, SAPR.

I see. That's horrific. And, demonstrative of how assault is rarely prosecuted to the full extent of the law and often has lots of loopholes to avoid legal consequences. The burden of proof is so difficult.

We really need a hug response under the like option but I'll settle for the sentiment. Being carded just to avoid assault is the wild logic that keeps this SA culture going. There is just no excuse orbiting our sun or any other that will make that make sense. Just awful.

The # of times I had a conversation where someone feels the need to immediately defend men as if my concern is their gender. The concern is on the social/legal culture allowing/perpetuating dangerous behaviors in cis-men from a young age, & the double standards for women. "Fear men, but poor men!"

Sending weapons needs to stop. Based on the Civilian Harm Incident Response Guidance (CHIRG) assessment and their unpublished statement (A state dept. office Biden instituted). pointed out that explosive weapons given and purchased from US to Israel were used on civilians (a human rights violation).

I don't think our government will stop sending aid, despite not meeting Human Rights protection minimums, the blatant violations Israel is committing under the Leahy Law, and the bad expectation for Israel to oversee it's own investigation of itself, and the cancellation of the CHIRG statement.

This imagery is giving me Get Out, and except more terrifying. I feel like Thomas is not given as much credit for being awful in the same ways his wife is. They are certainly in unison in their support for extremist views and wealthy benefactors of racism.

To be fair, I think God would do that. I mean, he's on a lot of people's minds in the bedroom already. Otherwise why would they say his name in vain so much? At least this way they'll know he's listening. (Not Kanye tho. He doesn't have that kind of riz)

I really cannot fathom what it takes to do something like this. Truly hope the families of the individuals murdered and the witnesses of the other crimes are currently safe and being cared for in their time of such immense loss.

Definitely expect to spend a day there. I know you can say that about most museums, especially those that had this much backing and thus have that many exhibits, but it really is fantastic and worth a slow crawl.

I am curious why the National Museum of African American History and Culture didn't make one of the top 10. It's honestly one of the best most engaging museums I've been in. It didn't feature queer black historical folks openly or bring in Black and Indigenous collaborative history tho.

Where's the insult to your womanhood? Seriously asking for academic purposes. I'm calling it, "A study of the most idiotic things to be mad about on the internet and more concrete proof that exclusionary fems need to go touch grass."

Okay, you're right. You can CHOOSE to be offended by a scientific term regardless of how it doesn't change the reality that it is not an insult to be cis-gendered. You being cis-gendered doesn't cause you to lose face on here; your bigoted ideas and the decision to share them do.

Marlene, cisgender is a scientific term acknowledging your identity which you have already described using physical terms. It's not an insult. I'm a white cis person. That's a fact. Not an insult. If I had said you're cis, thus you must be boring in bed, that would be an insult AND discriminatory.

Trans & cis are references to gender, not sexuality. Those two concepts are not the same. There are some helpful guides that might give you a better understanding of these concepts. And there are MANY studies and personal testimonies explaining why self-acknowledgment matters for well-being.

It's exchanges like this that also ultimately prove Kace's point that highlighting an aspect of our personhood that has seen the most rejection is about healing & self-love & existing honestly as ourselves. The bare minimum is seeing us as human. It's wild, that anyone thinks that's a courtesy.

Exactly. Our social relationships and experiences take these aspects of our personhood into account, so when we are open about them we are acknowledging an aspect of ourselves that is part of our human experience, and thus important to our wellbeing, and it shapes our perspectives as well.

This is a very affirming and supportive place for people who are genderqueer, who aren't heterosexual, and/or who advocate for queer people. It's weird you felt you HAD to reply to Kace w/ a chosen 'thought' declaring, "I'll acknowledge you are human, but not this SPECIFIC aspect of your humanity."

Protect Trans Kids. Protect Trans Lives. Work to help pass Gender Affirming Care laws. Support candidates for public office who support Gender Affirming Care laws, anti-discrimination laws, anti-hate speech laws, anti-gender based violence laws, and anti-bullying laws. That's the take away.

I honestly think your concern also gave people a moment to have a conversation about how important it is to consider how phrasing involves understanding associations our brains make. If you made that association, you're likely not alone. As you said, advertising & peer-reviewed journal rules apply.

I also think OP was trying to draw attention to the ridiculous fear-mongering the far-right is creating of queer folks while completely ignoring the real threat of a lack of sensible gun laws. But it's a good point that mentioning queer people in 'the same breath' of a mass shooting = association.

I mean it is certainly doing that in the now. It's demonstrating the precedent of our division, and yes, essentially undermines the significance of certain checks and balances, I agree. So I feel you on that feeling of drain, disappointment, and disgust for the increase in this intentional division.

It's setting another new precedent. But I hope people are also recognizing the positive precedents we have seen set lately too. Such as no president is above the law, a twice impeached president due to wrongdoing (made it into a song), and considerations for civil rights changes.
