The distinction is a ruse. "Mental illness" is a bogeyman, a sound bite phrase that makes it easy to deflect attention from the fact that a) the problem is too many guns, b) there are too few safeguards on guns, and c) these people INTEND to kill, meaning they knew what they were doing.
Spiritual Annie @SpiritualAnnie
Someone who picks up an assault rifle with the intention of taking lives is obviously disturbed, but unless they've been diagnosed with a specific condition, they're not mentally ill.

Why make the distinction?

I hear there is a number of voices rising saying they will not vote or will vote for third parties in this election cycle, this is from the side that claims to care about others, the side that walks the moral high ground...? #TheAmericanHaitianPoet

I also think they should be sanctioned for everyday they don't get any meaningful work done
They have all this off time to travel and make appearances. You have to wonder how we pay for that too. Because we know many of them having been getting significant donations

In response to Salma Typhii.
I've heard from a connected observer that the GOP House members against Jordan have been coordinating votes so he loses more votes every round to make it as clear as possible he's not going to win it.

I figured they all would roll over by now. It's a low bar, but pleasantly surprised.

It is not tragic that a former POTUS is about to be indicted.

It is tragic that a criminal was elected to that office, and that he continued to crime while in office.

It is GLORIOUS that he will now be held accountable for a least some of that. In our great democracy NO ONE is above the law!!

How much is each round of voting for a Speaker costing taxpayers? I feel as though Jordan and republicans should pay for it. At the very least take it out of their salaries.

Jordan lost even MORE support in the third round of voting. Maybe he’s realizing that threatening the family members of those who oppose his speakership wasn’t a great plan.

We desperately need to have a House Speaker. But thank goodness it's not going to be Jim Jordan.

It takes some critical thinking skills to be able to understand how global warming and climate change lead to changes in wind and ocean current patterns, such that heat and moisture move elsewhere.

On the flipside, it is so easy to see that when the Earth is warmer, more wildfires are sparked.

When I bought my current house several years ago I decided to fulfill my decades long dream of creating a wildflower meadow in my yard. It was a lot of effort & sweat & time, but the birds, bees, & other wildlife, along with the explosion of blooms has been worth it all. And it's easy peasy now.
