Oh No!!! Are you telling me I can’t count on Republican politicians in Texas to do the right thing!?

If “their perspective” is to not vote or vote against Biden in a swing state, then I agree. That is self-defeating. But there are critical voices on the left who should be trusted.

I also think that Democrats are better for the dissenters, because they reach people that party loyalists can’t.

You equated "bashing" of the sitting president to aiding and abetting white supremacy.

But criticism of the sitting president can be used in a variety of ways that work contrary to white supremacy. It's not that simple.

If you draw the line that way you're excluding a lot of valuable voices.

As a brown person who lives in a Texas, grew up around northern conservatives, and has spent an inordinate amount of time researching the history of white supremacy I find this sentiment to be dangerously simplistic.

Enthusiasm for the status quo isn't going to win over people who have tuned out.

It's so weird there hasn't been more uptake. This seems like such an obvious choice, especially for independent media.

I agree. Biden has done more than his predecessors focus on labor. I think that’s a winning strategy.

I’m saying he’s working from a deficit. Clinton and Obama both claimed to be pro-labor during a period when labor (and Erie) was in steep decline.

But I’m hopeful about the campaign. 👍🏽

It’s a messaging game. Trump is there spreading his. We need to be countering it. It’s not enough to be mad a voters for their ignorance.

Although I do certainly agree that this is ignorance in action.

If Democrats want to capture these voters back with a strong pro-union message, they can. I hope that’s the focus of this upcoming election. But there has to be some acknowledgment that we are working from a messaging deficit that goes back to the Cinton administration.

I agree that Biden is doing far more than Trump. But in context it’s not shocking that they would believe the opposite. Presidents of both parties have supported trade policies that hastened deindustrialization in the rust belt. Trump seemed like he upset that order so they trust him.
