He is required, by Judge Merchan, to attend the election interference trial.

He is there because he will be locked up if he doesn't show up every day the court is in session.

Other trials? He didn't attend every day of the fraud trial.

Oxygen is just plant poo.

Accuracy Alert!

The claim that 'Oxygen is just plant poo' is not accurate according to the reviewed sources. Oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis, a process during which plants convert carbon dioxide and sunlight into energy for growth. The sources indicate that oxygen is used for aerobic respiration by both plants and other organisms, and although it plays a vital role in decomposition of organic material, it is not a waste product from plants in the same way feces is for animals. Equating oxygen to 'plant poo' is an oversimplification and misrepresentation of the biological processes involved.

I think not. My point was that Starmer has got to factor in Khan's approach now. Starmer may be correct in thinking that there are more reactionary voters than progressive voters, but when he pursues a punitive policy when there's clear sentiment against it, he's lost the plot, just like Blair.

No no no no, people pay to post things on this website. Some people pay thousands of dollars. That's why you're not enjoying it, it's that you're not paying enough. Give some money, you'll feel good.

Of course some of us don't pay anything, and we feel good anyway. We're just that kind of people.

Is this a screen grab from a petulant New York Times article making up alternative facts about Biden and the press? Or is it something written by an otherwise credible publisher?

Keep in mind that MAGA and GOP are cultists; that rationality has no place in any of their calculations. All they have left is their delusion, which they will cling to until they drown.

Better to keep an eye on the things they will try to destroy on the way down.

Is this a US thing? First World problem? Do people buy bigger meals than they can eat in one sitting? Why would they do that, when the food's not fresh, or gets wasted, along with the extra resources used to prepare it? I would be suspicious of food quality at any restaurant that made XL portions.

So, @ukchat can add up to two other collaborators on the thread? That's a useful thing. But of course it's limited to three, so I am supposing collaborators can be removed and replaced - like having a guest collaborator every week.
Maybe I'll try that on an experimental thread of my own.

Speaking of the weather... the quintessential British topic of conversation.

How many words for grey and drizzly can you come up with?

Cold and damp, miserable, chilly, chilly, chilly. I'm reminded of a poem by Swedish poet Sten Hanson about digging for gold.

I cannot see that any social media platform would ever escape that sort of silliness. So it's quite helpful if people self-identify themselves as potentially toxic.
More seriously, the bigger challenge is to create an alternative; to set and maintain standards of the sort you want.

There are people in every walk of life who take advantage of other's generosity and tolerance. I deal with that by being very decisive about what I tolerate. For example, when I think politeness matters, any rudeness gets a ban. Spoutible gives us the tools.
