In lieu of a #DailyPictureTheme for 13 May during DPT’s hiatus, here’s another #flower from my photo collection 😁
This is the aptly named boomerang triggerplant (Stylidium eriopodum).

A small plant covered in uniquely shaped pale yellow flowers. The flower has two curved petals that resemble boomerangs, and two smaller petals. The inner part of the petals is cream with a radiating spray of red before the dominant colour of pale yellow. A yellow “trigger” curves over the two small petals. DYK Triggerplants are sensitive to touch. An insect landing on the flower causes the "trigger" to activate and close, trapping the insect. The struggling insect is covered in pollen. The trigger resets after a few hours. The plant is a borderline carnivore (protocarnivore) because it not only can it trap an insect for pollination but there are sticky glands on the stem containing an enzyme that can digest the insect. But don’t be concerned! The plants are small, forming clumps about 15 centimetres across, and the flowers are less than a centimetre wide. I photographed this plant near Corrigin.

I love this photo of my Memere, Beatrice. She eventually had 7 kids and 8 grandkids. She watched us, her nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids, over the years. Many women in our city worked in the factories. Beatrice probably thought they were getting a break. #DailyPictureTheme #MothersDay

We are standing beside a large lake, very lightly rippled by a soft breeze. There is considerable cloudiness, with a break along the far horizon. The sun has set a while ago, but is still tinting the horizon a deep red orange and the clouds above it a purple shade muted with gray. All this is mirrored on the lake surface. The far shore of the lake is densely wooded. The shore just in front of us is a tangle of leafy green underbrush and tall grasses. A tree frames the image on the right.

I love the rail system in #Europe . It’s probably the easiest way for a tourist to #travel . And the Brussels airport is so convenient — only 45 minutes from Antwerp Central Station. Both are absolutely gorgeous cities. #DailyPictureTheme

The last road trip I took w Mama was to Montana, with a jog south into Idaho for the 2017 solar eclipse. We visited a museum in Dillon MT and saw a classroom. My mom loved babies. She would have six more babies after this photo was taken. My mom did grandma childcare. I remember my nephew was in the highchair. Mom was feeding him food onto the tray. Everything was described . "Here are 1, 2, 3 green peas. They are round." 🥰
