34 years in English education. This is ridiculous. I have a textbook company that offers AI revision suggestions to the kids. Yes, it’s fast. No, it is not good.

My students’ reading and writing skills are declining, and more technology is not the answer

I left X shortly after I made an account here. Barry is a troll account. He posts ridiculous things just for fun and to see who gets upset by it.

If you read enough of his posts, it may be that he is satirizing the whole “male-sports-bro” culture entirely. Not sure, though.

I’ll bite.

My life is easier because I am white, male, tall… My life has always mattered.

To say BLM, or to respect others who are different, is to acknowledge that lots of people have historically not mattered.

‘All’ is often used to remind others that white lives still matter more.

Generally speaking, the people here are friendly. There is little, if any, bullying that I’ve noticed.

Without looking too deeply, yes, most people lean toward a progressive, human rights political belief.

There are also lots of people who just talk music, cooking, etc.

It’s fine to look at rewards and consequences, but addressing the causes is essential. Schools have changed a tremendous amount since I started teaching.

I disagree. My solution would be to eliminate the money in being an elected servant of the people. Once elected, you may only receive a salary. No lobbying, freeze all stock trades.

True. And, as a teacher, I see more entitlement and privilege among the children of wealthy parents, and I see more challenges and hard work among the children of less advantaged parents.

Just a generalization, not a rule.

I use a Lamy 2000 with a medium nib and a Sailor 1911 with a fine nib, depending on need. Love them both.

Always a little difficult if I am in a meeting and someone says offhand, “can I borrow your pen?” I don’t really have a ready response.

Apologies for misreading. I think…

No, we don’t have a sudden problem. If you are discussing mass shootings only, I think we’ve been on the same page since Columbine.

Yes, we are culturally racist, the more the victims look like us, the more shocked we are — “us” and “we” most often are white.

Not exactly sure where you are headed with this, but if you are trying to blame the black community for the gun problem, you probably need to think a little more.

It’s a different vibe here. Much more equitable. Most platforms are designed for virulence and addiction first. Hence the need for algorithms.

@cbouzy has designed this so that we all can exchange thoughts with general respect for each other. It really is evolving very quickly.

Spoutible was created by the people who created bot sentinel, a way to determine the likelihood that an account was actually a bot.

The rating is essentially a bot sentinel rating.

Hope you like it here. There is much less abuse and anger, more positivity.

True, and hydrogen has potential. But the idea of consuming the planet’s resources has to change. Americans especially feel that if they can afford it, they are entitled to it. A single life of any vehicle might be 15 years. It’s an enormously wasteful plan.

I agree, but EV’s have to be limited in scope, as well. Lithium is finite and mining it is hazardous. We need to rethink the structure of our cities. EV’s are being pushed so car companies can continue making profits.
