I always thought that quote was a bit off even within the movie. For some that are guilty, part of you thinks you're going to get away with it no matter what, and that overconfidence betrays you.

My favorite quote from PJ O'Rourke applies here. "The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

Jewel is an odd artist to listen to - her early singles are downright phenomenal, and much of her other album songs are just as awful. Then when the spotlight went away, her later releases didn't have such highs and lows, but were much more consistently good.

There was Taylor and Travis and an army of Swifites

Or it's about staying in 2024 long enough that Trump is either convicted or suffers an undeniable mental or physical health ailment where even die-hard delegates understand he cannot be their nominee. This assumes, safely, that his veep pick is also seen as wholly unelectable as a top of the ticket.

This is where I really would have faith in the courts. There is a constitutional requirement for when elections are held. Granted, a death or conviction of a candidate could cause genuine concern over that. A party's own inability to settle on a nominee would not.

I'm not sure Haley makes it as far as the GOP convention though. She'll be trailing Trump long enough and by enough that eventually he'll secure delegates to mathematically eliminate her.

The Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground as best as they were able
Where does magic come from? I think magic's in the learning
'Cause when Christians sit with Pagans, only pumpkin pies are burning

That's an 18-day minimum expedition that costs $12k for a guide. I'd love to do it, but might be too old by the time I can afford it. If I get into the mid-40's for total high points hiked, I'll be happy.

Mount Washington has my favorite bit of trivia. The technology didn't exist to build the train up a grade like that, so Congress joked, "You may as well build a train to the moon," and then wrote the rights to build a moon train INTO THE LEGISLATION.

I think they want to 1) impeach Biden in the House just because they have the votes, and 2) "expunge" TFG's impeachment. That way in the '24 campaign they can say Biden is the only impeached candidate. It won't work, but they really are that dumb.

(2/2) is that any time spent even DISCUSSING my tinnitus with that doctor is billed differently. Not treatment, just the time spent on a particular topic during preventative care can be billed separately. Absurd that just getting care and knowing what it costs are impossible.

I mean I didn't know as much then as I do today. But I do remember the androstendione in the locker, the media questioning it, and so many people, myself included, shrugged our shoulders and essentially said, "who cares, this is fun and I haven't loved baseball like this since the strike."

My take is that we all basically knew that players were juicing, most of what they were doing wasn't specifically against MLB rules at the time, and we looked the other way because damn, wasn't it FUN to care about baseball again? So get off the high horse about McGwire.
