⛔Many of you have expressed displeasure with seeing the same spout echoed in your timeline. We have decided to show one echo of the spout in your timeline so you are not inundated with the same spout. We hope to make this change later today or tomorrow.

Wow, that's a big change. You guys are doing the damn thing.

Think I'll wait at least until August to bug you about mute button capabilities. Cuz fr you guys are doing a great job. Spoutible is 5 months old and it's just growing, in users and capabilities.

Appreciate it. However, you can wait until after the influx of new users settles a bit and after the holiday.

CB, it's a holiday weekend, that means features & tweaks can wait until Tuesday.

Is it possible to post only one instance of an echoed spout in the timeline, but indicate how many times it has been echoed-- in the same way that 'likes' are displayed?

💯 Completely in favor of this change.

To those worried spouts you echo might not be heard: we'll hear them better the first time without all the echo noise.

As to volume as a marker of importance - that's just repeating twt likes, but we already see the number of echoes and likes a spout has.

Please let this be an option rather than an across-the-board feature.

Seeing something echoed often signals to me that maybe I need to take a closer look at the content.

I didn't mind it really.
Because it's shows me who else on my timeline is echoing

Does this mean the echo will only show up once in our active timeline (Ie: I’ve read/scrolled past an echo already)? If so, that would be great.

I don't mind the multiple echoes; it lets me know what the people I follow care about.

I agree with others asking that it be an option because I actually like the echoes. I don't want to miss something and if I don't want to see it I can just scroll on by.

I’m sure this is easier said than done but I would rather this be optional. If I’m not sitting on Spoutible all day the way I see posts from some of my favorite folks is through these echoes. Just a thought.

Christopher, I’m not sure how your platform is built but maybe just give people the option in settings of view echos or not? I realize with the increase in traffic that you are probably up to your eyes fighting fires at the moment, this may be an easier solution rather than the allow one echo?

It doesn't really bother me to see multiple echoes as long as they're from different people. The issue is seeing the same reply/echo of the same spout (with the same timestamp) multiple times. Even on this thread, I see several replies that are duplicated, again even down to the timestamp.

I don't mind seeing spouts repeated, but I would love it if - when I like and/or echo a spout, it goes to the original spout/spouter, not the random echoed copy that I'm seeing at that moment.

...Can we opt out? This seems problematic in that without an algorithm (which most of us love!) it takes echos to be able to see older spouts without seeking out the spouter.

I am curious about what it will look like. It’s impossible for me to even partially get though my timeline because of the echos. Perhaps I’ll actually be able see older spouts if I don’t have to wade through so many duplicates. I wonder if this could be a pilot 🤔

Well, I guess we'll see how that is, but with a chronological timeline I am really concerned spouts will float on by and I will not see them, if they are only on my timeline the one time. And that others won't see mine. And how would we see added replies?
