This is exactly the time. Obama wasted the first two years of his presidency and so has Biden. Restricting our choices to two is not my definition of Liberal Democrat. Clinton won by 3 million votes. She was defeated by the Electoral College. Stop blaming Greens and fix the system.
Andrea Jones @Andrea0123
This is not a time for candidates just trying to make a point: our democracy is at stake.

Cornel West needs to take a seat already.

Biden passed a massive infrastructure bill.
Biden passed the first notable gun control bill in decades.
Biden lowered prescription drug prices.
Biden fights for student debt relief.
Biden defended Ukraine (but you Greens don't like that, because you love the Kremlin).

Along with a bunch of other stuff. All with a hostile Congress.

But I guess that's "wasting" his presidency. All so you have an excuse to finish what you started, and throw the Presidency to Trump again, and forever.

Thank you for not insulting me. Unlike Germany, Greens in America are ridiculed for their positions. I have lived in the USA all my life. Third parties are the tugboats that move the major parties to get things done. Without us nothing gets done. It is how our system works.

You might feel unconcerned with another Trump win, but I think that stance is based on plenty of privilege and self-absorption and very little principle. Only someone personally unaffected by the victimisation, loss of rights and economic hardship of Trump in charge could say that.

What is your plan to "fix" the system? Eliminating the electoral college will require a constitutional amendment. When you figure out which 38 states are going to ratify that, let me know. The EC is a winner take all system, so it will always come down to the top 2 candidates.

I don't have a plan. There are some ideas that I like that amount to work arounds. Instant runoff voting is one. Some states allocate their electoral votes on a proportional basis or district by district. So that would help. I am open to new ideas.

I swear some of y’all “Green party “ folks need to review Schoolhouse Rock because Obama not Biden had the kind of majority to pass certain legislation. Obama still had quite a few blue dog Democrats in the House and Senate. Y’all decided that 2010/2014 weren’t important. This is why we are here.

Even including those blue dog Dems Obama didn't have a majority for most of those two years. Stuff happened that couldn't be helped (like death etc), that complicated matters & gave R's opportunities to drag their feet as long as they could, so there were long delays getting replacements in

… and while we’re at it, it’s exactly that Obama-better-do-more-for-ME crap by the hard left that led them to abandon Obama in 2010 and 2014, which was how the Tea Party planted seeds that became MAGA and Trump. Not to mention handing them state power most still have. Blame is properly assessed.

You want third party parity? Great! Start with school boards, city councils, local government…build an actual, functional party. Then maybe play in the majors.

I wish I could make people understand that we can only make progress incrementally. And that Biden is an arguably more progressive president than Obama, who was one of the most progressive since Roosevelt. And that he's been trying to expand Obamacare so that it will be essentially Medicare For All.

And the alternative is to go backwards. A 3rd party candidate is not going to win and magically make this country a liberal paradise - but if enough people vote 3rd party instead of Dem, we get a Repub. We have seen this too many times. Please, please, PLEASE learn this lesson already.

Yeah, the EC made Trump win-but that doesn't change the fact that its part of the current system, and we need enough votes to overcome that, and you can't just handwave that away to justify your "protest vote".
