It will take years before any platform replaces Twitter, even with Elon destroying it. I never expected Spoutible to become a Twitter replacement overnight; it just doesn't work that way.

thread 2/2
First, people want to know if Spoutible will last longer than a year before investing time in building a new following. Secondly, people want to see if Spoutible spirals out of control or remains true to its mission of mitigating targeted harassment and disinformation.

I love Spoutible but…
It is becoming incestuous. First waivers did a great service but…
It cannot be about some of them dominating hashtag trains. New blood is needed to grow.

If a social media platform wants to survive, it has to aim higher than being "the new/next Twitter." Folks like the author of this HuffPo piece want to be handed their next toy without making any substantial investment in designing said toy. They will find any excuse to avoid doing the necessary

2/x ... work to find a new platform and make it home. They want to be told where to play and who their playmates are. They're eager to complain that platform A isn't just like platform Y and that's why they can't tear themselves away. Aspire to something better. No one is forcing them to stay at Y.

💯💯💯! Spoutible will NOT be a replacement for Twitter. It'll be BIGGER and BETTER. It's already on its way. Thank you @cbouzy for creating a secure platform where ppl like us can gather together and share our opinions worry-free of trolling and any other abuse. The sky's the limit. 🚀😃👏🏾👍🏾

Just happy to be here - nolonger being bombarded on X by accounts I never signed up to or would ever want to join or view. My timeline is physically, emotionally and spiritually healthier now. Thank you
I take my 🧢 off to you.

I see from the comments that a fair amount of people joined either being of the stated goal of not allowing bullying or because this is a black-owned site.

Just so you know we're out here, too, I tried most of the alternatives to X and simply found this to be the best one available. I read about

Any time I go "check Twitter" for something, I'm grossed out. Blech. 😡💀🤬Brain poison. I'm spending more time here now. Just having growing pains... or 'not growing' pains. 😆

No, not all of us are still hitting that X
I loved twitter as much as anyone, until... well, we all know when
I deleted my account a couple months ago, and have miraculously survived. New friends, interesting conversations, less stress.
Thanks, #TeamSpoutible for everything you do!

"Traction", "reach", "clout" are messed up, outdate concepts. No worries. It's impossible to 'replace' Twitter, it was pleased in a slice of time that will never come back. I'm positive @cbouzy has always known this and it wasn't his intension, as he has said many times.

I saw a Spout about Montgomery, then I spent hours on former Twitter. I will use that app as long as it is useful. Tens of thousands see my tweets versus scores here. I use Meta. Since I am connecting to a community rather than building an audience, Spoutible will be where I stay.

I think right now, many users on X are actively destroying the platform - either as provocation, thinking their 1A rights are threatened by "woke", or because they dislike Elmo and want him to fail. Here, users are keenly aware that they are co-responsible for actively creating something better.

As true as it is, that all of this will take time, it doesn't make it easier to stomach. The sociologist in me has a clear understanding that all people need to do is leave and build anew, but our torpor allows us to justify remaining ensnared in platforms ran by those who don't love us. Kinda sad.

Well I have ditched Twitter. The last straw with something on my phone that looks like a PornHub app. The whole thing is just done. I deleted my profile and am not going back. Thanks for providing a really decent alternative!

There is always going to be an element of society that craves chaos; but when I see a black person driving a Tesla, I roll my eyes. As far as I'm concerned; Spoutible is the only platform that is actively trying to deter cyberbullying. The reckoning of #BatteredSMUserSyndrome will eventually come.

Spoutible is on its way to be a much better public square than Twitter was. Having joined Twitter early, it took years to become best. First event was Arab Spring - Twitter was news for Iran, Egypt & Turkiey while we mirror sites. Spoutible will develop too. FIFA Women's World Cup is on now - engage
