It turns out the timing of my tongue-in-cheek #SpoutWar battle has coincided with a mass shooting. A school shooting.

I work for UNLV. Beam Hall is a building central on campus. I know several of the students and faculty.
My daughter is one.

We're checking to make sure everyone is ok. My daughter has checked in, but we still need to hear from some of her friends.
All I can say is this:
It's just a matter of time.

So sorry - glad your daughter is ok. Hoping you hear from others soon that they are all safe. My brother-in-law’s brother teaches at Beam Hall and we’ve heard he is safe. This is so maddening. It doesn’t have to be this way. 😡

I'm fine are not the words I would expect to hear in this context. It's slightly disturbing to think that you might be going about your day as normal. So I've taken the liberty of reinterpreting that phrase to mean I'm rattled; I'm upset but I have found my focus and I'm making my way through.
