I could be wrong, but I feel like the vast majority of people who feel like there's a lack of engagement on Spoutible are barely ever on Spoutible. Those of us here all the time get plenty of engagement...because we use the site.

The last couple weeks all I have been doing is hibernating and I still get engagement. So, if someone is not getting engagement they are doing it wrong.
They should try turning their device on before using SM.
I'm gonna go back to bed and watch cartoons, while getting engagement.

There’s enough engagement here for me. In fact, yesterday someone DM’d me and invited me to join the Illuminati.

I’m considering it, but am not sure I can fit it in between my ANTIFA and deep state meetings.

Or their follow/following is low as well as THEIR engagement

Scratch that...Hell, even that Jeff T guy with 1000s of followers but only follows 8 gets engagement when he comes here only to say he wrote something

I feel like a lot of them are plants, maybe to discourage new people who are joining. I don't know. But I can agree there's no way they're using the site with any regularity if they claim no engagement. I can come on at 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. and always find a conversation or trail of thought going.

Spoutible reminds me of Tumblr (minus the porn bots, trolls, and Supernatural fandom). Actually, it’s a lot like early Tumblr, easy to lurk, like, and reblog (echo) posts. Not so easy to get viral posts (but the ones that did were amazing). Tumblr went downhill when they sold it to Yahoo.

This is true. Spoutible is okay, but I'm not here as often. I have more interaction at counter.social because I'm there more often. I like it a little bit more because it's more conversation based, less memes posting there. I'm also drawn to the desktop version. /1

Both places are not based on algorithms. They are based on connections and conversations. Nor do they have advertising! If I was here more, I would probably have a similar experience.

Each platform has its benefits. I ultimately like both, counter.social just slightly more. /end

It seems like some don’t even share my definition of engagement. Several of the complaints I’ve seen are about not getting followers, and they are not ‘engaging’ by responding to those they do follow.

What is it that they want? Followers or ‘likes’ or boosts for their spouts?

That's right on. I was on Xitter 14 years and it takes effort.

I've been here 8 months, but have earnestly worked on my network for the last 3. Many days of zero engagement. Last 2 weeks things have picked up noticeably. There's enough folks here to get a good network, but it takes effort.

Interesting. I think I disagree. I’m a first waver. I think day 1. I don’t post on here often because the engagement is so low. I try to come on and find posts to “like” at least a couple times a week. I post the exact same thing on various sites. Spoutible is routinely the lowest engagement.

Hi Mara,

My $0.02, I went and had a look, and I noticed that you haven’t really commented on peoples spouts in a couple of weeks, this being the exception. I personally have like notifs turned off so I wouldn’t notice much. Commenting or Qsing let’s people get to know you. That’s my suggestion.

Spoutible is brand spanking new. C. Bouzy has added features at lightning speed to the point Twitter is falling behind on that metric. There is far less BOT and troll noise here. People are leaving Twitter and engagement is increasing by leaps and bounds on Spoutible. Thank you @cbouzy

yes, I couldn’t help but notice that the person I interacted with last night — who talked about how they hadn’t “figured out” the engagement part of spoutible — had 200 or so spouts since last Feb

maybe there’s a hint in there somewhere… 🙂

Yeah, they were the one who sparked my post. At least they weren't complaining like some do in a jerky way – it just struck me that I hadn't seen them spout in ages, so I'm not surprised they think there's no engagement.

it's an adjustment for sure because it is different and some don't have the patience to even try and explore it and learn how it works, people want immediate satisfaction
you have put in the work to build it
I also think people love and are used to the drama. Spoutilbe is low drama.

I see the same thing. They don’t spout or respond, yet expect engagement like they are some sort of big engagement magnet to which folks should be attracted.

I find this complaint weird, because I lurk a lot, and yet, even when I occasionally post, I'll get some likes and sometimes even comments. More engagement than elsewhere and I don't even know anyone here IRL.
