We also need to better protect them - and everyone - from getting covid, because the damage it can cause post-infection is system-wide. Blood clots & heart attack risk rises after infection

Same here, it's concerning how many people aren't paying attention to what's happening.
I'm also concerned that many of the people who usually organize protest actions - often women - have gotten hit by long covid too bc there's not much action these days when there should be

If he he's the Dem candidate in the general election of course I'm voting for him, but these are some of the reasons why I'm hoping for a better Dem challenger, along with his tendency to be too touchy-feely with women & girls

That may be true, but a couple weeks early is still early & gives the impression to the public that the risk is minimal, when it wasn't.
Him saying "it's over" though was the most damaging of all. He could've kept being vocal about the real risks rather than falling in line with the GOP on covid

Much of why the public became apathetic is because of the Biden admin's decisions such as ending the PHE which ends free PCR testing, and he himself stated the pandemic 'is over' on live TV right as the 1st bivalent boosters were rolled out and many believed him.

His more recent covid response is why I wish we had a better Dem running, bc he gave up on protecting us & ended the PHE before it should've been so now access to PCR tests is even harder. When Trump said 'if there's no tests there's no covid' we pushed back, now Biden's doing much the same :/

Hmm, I'm neurodivergent and often call people I don't know by their last names & didn't realize that would be offensive. Is this referring just to certain contexts? Like, as a patient to a doctor, or in general?

Antigen tests aren't as accurate with the newest strains. A friend of mine tested negative every time for days with antigen tests, did not test positive until using a molecular test. People need access to PCR, if you get disabled by long covid you can't get help for it without a positive on record

I don't know if they'll bother with pushing back, but if it were me I would.
I don't know who their insurers are but I don't think either one is Kaiser.
Last time mom was in ER a couple months ago I had to ask for a PCR, but they used a molecular test. That's fine but they half assed the nasal swab

It's very sadly true, & just today my mom told me of an acquaintance who has confirmed exposure, but was refused a PCR because she didn't have symptoms yet.
None of this makes sense unless they just want a lot of us to die?

I wonder if he's going to be registered as a sex offender? Or no because it was a civil rather than a criminal trial?
I wish this meant they'd lock him up, but he's still got plenty of other trials that can make that happen...

I could swear I remember hearing that there would not be enough bivalent booster shots to boost the entire US population, and the reason might've been $$?
If anyone finds that info please post it. Would explain a lot

I know, it's really frustrating. I'm glad at least that higher risk people have the option to finally get a more frequent booster, but still.
Wild to me how many vaccines / treatments are made here, but trialled in other countries due to lack of gvt $$$

YW! There are some areas missing from it tho, I noticed San Francisco's sewer sheds aren't included in biobot but they're there in the CDPH one, so I usually look at both

And, completely hypothetical on my part but I often wonder if the Omicron targeted shots should've also had a part 2 like the originals did? Like, would the protection last longer after getting a 2nd one in the same way?
Not sure but I want as much protection as possible

It's the bivalent w/ Omicron BA4 & 5 strains, of which the new subvariants are still offshoots of. It doesn't protect completely against infection from the newest variants but still protects against severe disease & has some protection against transmission at least in the 1st couple months
