I meant my reply as lighthearted & I value being a good neighbor too. Even with their benefits D-Lions are a such pain to keep under control and make lawns look messy.
More than anything I thought your Star Wars analogy was was funny and made me think of this meme.
May the force be with you :)

I enjoy all of the series but Andor stands out as the best by far! Outstanding.

You have to get there really early for those. If I were you, I would avoid flea markets.

Sadly kindness is too often taken advantage of and some people simply disregard the actual efforts and patience it calls for.. I, myself, have been on both sides of this issue, having been snippy but moreso having been verbally harangued by a disgruntled partner of issues or matters of his own..

It all depends on the exact level of contentiousness involved bc there's a huge difference from someone having had a bad day & being a little off-putting and someone who has is just taking their anger issues out on you bc they feel that it's okay to.. I have learned this distinction the hard way..

Yes, with character limits, important pleasantries go by the wayside, and you end up with failry direct responses that often (unintentionally) convey an aggressive tone! Not good!

I think it can help if you intersperse contradictory facts with complements to the person you're arguing with, support for aspects of their position, and perspective taking. Also, not being too confident about your "facts." Maybe? 😊

I don't think we are even talking about the same thing here. I'll leave it at that.

A great reminder that there's always more to the story than a headline (or a quick hit on social media)

Thanks. I’m going to need to see if that’s a setting that’s available to me. I used to see a lot of HuffPost and USA Today. But, lately, it’s almost all Fox News.

Any shared frustration should not be washed away. That laws banning books passed by state governments are alarming is something we should all agree on --even as at the local level debates may be negotiated and choices made that we have personal objections to.

I wish I understood the mechanism behind that very reaction. Why is it so disgustingly adorable? Why?
Brent Maverick @Livingthatclife
Watching an unsteady toddler bolt away from you when they know they're in trouble should not look as adorable as it does. Hard to look serious when they could have actually been hurt.

@Livingthatclife Oh yeah! That works for me too! So, maybe the secret is to indicate in the last post that you've made a thread and then Echo that last post!? Convoluted but workable!

Do anyone have any advice for creating threads that don't get broken half way through? Is there a trick I'm missing?

I know! Standard replies don't enter Mentions. You have to manually add the person's handle for that to happen ( @livingthatclife 😊).

But you can quote tweet with links, if that’s what you mean: E.g., https://spoutible.com/thre...

It's a mess! But I realise my test was a mess too because I broke my own thread by replying to 1/5 with my 4/5 Spout, instead of replying to 3/5. So, I wouldn't pay much attention to my "results"! But yes, I'd love to find out the best way to thread.

True. I’m a bit overwhelmed, being on Mastodon, Post, a little Twitter, a little Facebook.. it’s leading me to be on less overall.

Twitter, I often left up in a browser tab and glanced here and there throughout the day. Can’t do that now. 😃

Spoutible has quickly become my favorite of the “news
