oooh yeah that kind of thing, the "I'm gonna be rude and I don't care" is a giant red flag that tells me never to interact with that person. And that particular C word is also a huge red flag to me

like go have a tea with them occasionally or something. I hate how fragmented our world is and how hard it is to find friends, especially if you're an "oddball" in your physical community

I don't know if my reaction would have been less strong if we HADN'T been in that situation, if I hadn't had to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas totally alone that year. But I can remember the feeling of "that's it, world's ending"

perhaps that's just my own brand of being slightly ND/socially awkward - I remember unpleasant interactions and either think "oh no that person HATES me" or "they made me look stupid" or something else that will lead to be being rejected/culled from the group

One thing I noticed when I was SUPER isolated during the worst times of covid was that any mildly unpleasant human interaction - or even one I interpreted as such - would loom LARGE and could spoil my whole week. I don't know how to fix that.

I live over 1000 miles from the Canada wildfires but I think particulate matter from them has reached here, our air quality today is lower than it should be and I can feel it - I have asthma and I notice when there's either a lot of ozone or a lot of PM in the air

It makes me angry because the church when I was growing up was one of the few places I fit in and felt loved by other than my family. But now some folks want to ruin that too.

I can't stop being a Christian (though I admit my doubts are stronger than years ago) but also: if people are going to be awful &still wave the banner of Christ, I don't want to ally with them. I don't want to call myself that any more if what people think when they see me is "she's one of THEM"

also some businesses literally never update! And some that are chain outlets only regurgitate the official chain stuff - I was checking the other day to see if a pizza place in the "construction danger zone" was open and all they had were the national specials

I'm to the point of having Too Many Pattern books but yes, I don't care who wrote it/how it was published, if someone I trust recommends it I will look into it. Or if it's an author I know and like for their previous patterns.

One thing I've learned is A T and T doesn't care about their landline infrastructure any more. I assume that's because there's no money in it like there is in upselling internet/phone packages.

I've had to deal with them when the lines got "flooded" and water damaged and wow....

Ah I had that done last summer - all the old vinyl siding ripped off, there was nice broadboard wood siding under so I paid (all my life savings) to have the damaged broadboard replaced and then it all painted, and new trim built. 2 weeks of solid noise.
