In response to Thurgood Du Bois aka GC4*.
And when he's in his second term, that's a perfect time to criticize, push him, and ask for more

You may vote for him. However, there are people out there misinformed and disinformed who don't know what they're gonna do.

Right now is not the time to assume Biden "got this" because "he got you."

After he wins, give it to him. Not now.

In our family we did not air our dirty laundry outside, until we had talked about it as a family first. Critique can happen after the election. It may tend to demoralize potential voters. Plenty of time to critique after the election. Words have power. No need to praise his name, just wait.

The problem is what we're up against. This isn't peacetime. We're in a civil cold war. People very similar to our grandparents' enemies (your great-grandparents' enemies, perhaps) are on this side of the Atlantic and trying to destroy everything we value.

Can I say I'm kind of tired of seeing ALL these White pundits on the News saying Black people aren't going to vote for Biden?
Have you spoken to every Black person? Also, Black ppl aren't monolithic, so perhaps the 20 or 30 you spoke with aren't with Biden, but that's not the whole race of ppl. 🤬

When you talk about Trump’s conviction with other people, don’t call it a “hush money” case. Don’t call it a “porn star” case. Don’t call it a “falsifying business records” case.

It was an ELECTION INTERFERENCE case. He was paying people with the intent to influence an election.

Donald Trump is a convicted felon. Guilty on all 34 counts. The rule of law and the principle that no one is above the law has held.

I agree with Trump: if Mother Teresa had sex with a porn star and then told her lawyer to pay hush money and then told her accountant to falsify business records to cover it up, she wouldn't beat the charges either

We need each other. We need to give each other grace. We are all damaged. Most of us are fighting our own demons. And we need to be allies across our cultural differences.

Because the alternative is Terrible, Awful, Horrible. It is Moloch, Mordor, Mount Doom.

Please take a breath.

This long routine, that spent a lot of time on childhood sexual abuse, has stayed with me for 40+ years.

So when I see a SM space that only months ago people were hailing as a Utopia on Earth devolving into factions and drama and who is allowed to say what & when & why, I think of this.

Meanwhile the Right is full of people who have repressed abuse, identify with the oppressor as Authority for safety, & do their best not to interrogate reality. They cheerily answer phones "Republican Party!" smiling as the Left is growling "Greenpeace!" like a curse word & searching for a fight

Crimmins said the Left is full of people who grew up with abuse, decided to leave it, & vowed to let no oppression go unanswered. But unhealed trauma made it easy for Holy Wars to break out between factions until everyone was standing on their own little ice floe because you can't fix everything.

Thread:

I once went to a political fundraiser where the headliner was the great comic Barry Crimmins. He did an unforgettable long-form set about the difference between liberals & the Right.

Why do liberals so often devolve into circular firing squads while R's grin & vote in a bloc?

Trauma.

Said by a Lesbian, about herself, no.

Said as an intentional, intended insult to a straight, CIS woman. Yes. Homophobic.

In this context, yes. It was used to masculinize/defeminize a woman. There was also body-shaming. MTG is beyond terrible for multiple reasons. Her hair-color, build and femininity are not amongst them.

To be clear "butch body" used as a pejorative is problematic for some. I don't care for it coming from from folks I know harm me.I identify as soft butch within my community. But it is used at times to be derogatory. And can be harmful. There is history. The youngs see it differently.

If Joe Biden wins again, not only does Donald Trump lose the election, he also loses the ability to delay or prevent trials for his many criminal acts. As a result, he will spend the rest of his life in courtrooms and/or prison cells.

So, needless to say, Biden/Harris 2024.
