I can't believe people are still there. I left last year and never looked back. I was ready to leave the moment X Luthor took over. Thank goodness for Spoutible!
Anne Lutz Fernandez @lutzfernandezI stopped posting at X many moons ago but went private and kept my account, holding onto the fantasy that Musk may end up having to sell and the site be saved. Went back today to post this.06:35 AM - Apr 28, 2024

Makes me think of an interview I saw where a female Trump voter was angry because "He's hurting the wrong people." She got swept up in one of his shitty policies, and she was angry about it. Maybe they hope Noem will hurt all the right people.

My departure was gradual, but one of the big points for me that pushed me toward leaving outright was when Muskrat retweeted Russian propaganda "predicting" a US civil war to make himself (Musk) President.
At that point I really thought I couldn't stay there and still call myself an American.

I haven't been there in probably a year. Every once in a while, I click on a link, by mistake. When I see that invasive logo showing up, I can't back out fast enough.
I don't even want to be there long enough to delete my account. I locked it down and walked away.

Great article. Musk is actively working to mainstream white supremacy, misogyny, & bigotry. The ethical thing for big accounts, news orgs., and, well...you...to do is delete their/your X account & let that cesspool wither and die.

Anne Lutz Fernandez @lutzfernandezNoem’s dog story did just what it was supposed to do: get everyone talking about her book. But I fear it’s more insidious— a “the cruelty is the point” move meant to show she’s ready to be brutal to anyone the far right deems nonhuman.06:52 AM - Apr 27, 2024

My mom died having done nothing to address my dad's dementia so my husband I had to take the keys pretty much right away. That was almost 5 years ago and I still feel guilty about having to take that independence from him. But we had no choice.

The funny part? Divorce made me so much healthier! Addison's is exacerbated by stress, both physical and emotional.
Within 2 years, I was no longer hospitalized 4-5 times a year, just 1-2 times. Within 10 years, it was years between incidents. I haven't been in a single time since 2008.

From personal experience, I know chronic health issues also affect marriages.

I found the first line of that quote interesting (repro'd in full below).
I just recently learned that women diagnosed with cancer are warned by health care providers not to rely solely or largely on a male partner for support and care because they're 6x more likely to leave after the diagnosis.

And when you realize the experts the male author consults are all male...and read the article substituting the word men when it uses people...why did they not look at that?
Oh yeah. Because "people" is generally always male once you really start digging.

“Money can’t buy happiness” is a trope made up by the rich to gaslight us commoners into thinking we shouldn’t even aspire to more. Happiness is clearly more than money, but money can buy a lot of it.
Anne Lutz Fernandez @lutzfernandezWorth a read. It challenges the idea that marriage is a silver bullet, as so many male pundits keep chiding us. It also challenges the "money can't buy you happiness" myth that helps the rich keep more of their riches. #giftedarticle07:16 AM - Apr 28, 2024

Exactly - in fact studies have shown that men married to women live longer and happier, but women married to men live less long and less happily than their single counterparts.
