Exactly. It is very useful for creating tailored feeds for local news, particular interests, etc.

Yeah, it was funny to see what you got added to. Though I always made mine private, I also named them innocuous things just in case they went public one day.

If I'm being honest, it was also a good way of filtering out people who I wanted to follow but who posted a lot or did a lot of self-promotion/backscratching (I had separate "politics" and "writers" feed for this very purpose.)

Well, at the other place, in the beginning I used them to have a "local" feed as well as various thematic feeds (books, politics). When the site went non-chronological I set up a "following" feed so that I still had a chronological main feed of people I followed when others didn't.

Sure, the vibe is nice, but I'm here because of the features, especially the ability to edit posts (once within 15 minutes) and automatic thread numbering. I also just love the names for things (spout, echo, making waves).

Except for the top two, on any given day the next ten could be completely rearranged in a way that would be satisfying to me. I think VERTIGO is his masterpiece even if I don't particularly like it very much.

That's the thing, I've seen his entire filmography and there are really only a few I don't like and the rest are films I'd watch over and over again without hesitation.

Since you like Violent Femmes, if you don't know them, I'd particularly recommend Alkaline Trio and Me First & the Gimme Gimmes. (The latter is a Bay Area cover band that does punk-inflected covers of all sorts of non-punk music).

True. However, since I don't have cable and can't access TCM, it's a bit frustrating to follow the hashtag.

There are a bunch of good ones from the 1940s (the decade I'm currently working through for my Century+ project): MRS. MINIVER, THE MORE THE MERRIER, WENT THE DAY WELL?, SINCE YOU WENT AWAY, THE CLOCK, I'LL BE SEEING YOU, I SEE A DARK STRANGER, and WHISKY GALORE!
