There's such a need for foster homes for older youth! These kids have had to deal with a myriad of struggles & problems through their short lives, mostly not of their making. They're complicated - but also funny, wise, independent, and occasionally exasperating - just like any teen.

It's so difficult! We were finally able to take my mom's car away when she broke her hip and had medical restrictions. Do you ride with them enough to know what the major issues are for them?

Since the eggs aren't all laid on the same day, some will take an extra day or two to hatch. Here's hoping for robin baby #3 to hatch soon!

Prime rib, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, rolls, and brownies for dessert. I don't get to eat much of the starchy stuff or dessert, but my husband will, and neither of us has to cook! They do a different menu each week.

Barbara Ehrenreich's _Nickel and Dimed_ is a great introduction to the impossibility of the "work hard, get ahead" axiom for so many.

After all those years of direct experience and observation, I *know* when I'm a little bloated, a little more emotional, and my blood sugar's a little higher than normal - on a pretty consistent monthly cycle. But sure, tell me that's not hormones.

Also, many symptoms are written off (for years) as "perimenopause," when they may have an entirely different cause.

The biggest surprise for me was that even after my periods stopped, I still "cycle" hormonally.

Were these the additional offenses brought to the judge's attention that had actually occurred *prior* to the (last) warning of jail time? But yeah, it's definitely sounding like hollow threats.

I remember that storm as well! We'd driven to Boston so my sister could visit BU, left as soon as it started snowing, and got across the Tobin Bridge just before reports on the radio that the bridge was closed. We made it as far as Danvers before we had to stop for the night.

My mother was among the "lucky" polio survivors - left only with a distinctive limp and a spine that curved into an S ("for Sally," the doctor told her). Dr. Salk was her hero. She just couldn't understand anti-vaxxers.

I also experienced that lack of fear once I was faced with near-death. Knowing it in a theoretical way (I mean, obviously everybody dies) is very different from KNOWING it in a visceral way - I am going to die someday, and it's probably not going to be on my to-do list that day!

I'm really fortunate to have a wealth of photos from my early childhood! My dad had a darkroom and we have boxes of his contact sheets with negatives in envelopes on the back. I've only scanned a small selection of them.
