I think we're (Maine) getting that same weather later on Tuesday into Wednesday. Flooding, power outages, all the shit.

Already unaffordable here. Before the pandemic it was already difficult to find an affordable house in the Portland Maine area. Then the pandemic happened and large numbers people from wealthier states moved here. Loads of New York plates on cars all of a sudden. We suddenly became the hip place.

A friend was telling me how much better 4K Blu-rays were than streaming, so much so that he's much more motivated to get things on disc. I think I own at least one movie on 4K streaming so I might check that out again and see how it compares to the 4K Blu-rays I have.

I think streaming video is pretty heavily compressed. I don't think I've streamed anything in 4K yet, but regular Blu-rays are so much better than HD streaming. The thing that's easiest to notice is the audio. The audio is so much clearer and richer when played off a disc. A friend ...

I've definitely seen people play Fallout 76 as a way to socialize with friends. Some of the missions can get hectic but you can also have a very chill time.

I had a combo pack with both an HD and 4K copy of John Wick 2, so, I played them both and the 4K was noticably better. The HD copy didn't look terrible, but you could see more detail in the 4K copy which was nice. Depending on which movie it is, it may not matter as much.

I bought a PS5 for gaming but it can also play 4K Blu-rays. I had 4K copy of John Wick 2 that I tried out yesterday and it looked pretty impressive! I don't know how it compares to other Blu-ray players, but it seemed decent to me!

It's puzzling why they haven't done this before now. There was plenty of reason to stop advertising before this latest thing.

This whole thing just makes me more committed to avoiding Apple products. What they've been doing with iMessage this whole time is anticompetitive. The lightning cable vs USB C is another thing. The EU had to make a law to get them to act sensible. It's insane.

I had a few friends who voted third party and I wasn't able to talk them out of it. It was so frustrating. I'm not sure if even now they appreciate what a mistake that was.

It's more difficult and takes longer to find people with shared interests on Spoutible. On Twitter, it was completely effortless which helped to make the platform sticky. I don't know what celebrities want, but I could guess it is disappointing to post here if you are used to posts going viral.

There were a few ordinary people on Twitter I followed who are not here or at least not active. The drive for them is they want to get noticed and appreciated by as many people as possible. That doesn't really work here because there is no algorithm. It's more difficult and takes longer to find.../

Maybe not big celebrities, but, maybe something like niche celebrities. I followed several Microsoft employees, a few journalists and maybe a few others who draw an audience because of their job or some kind of status. These kind of accounts can gather a lot of people and create interesting content.

Difficult to pick just one thing, but, biggest problem I'm dealing with right now is too many competing demands on my time. They keep launching new projects without regard to all the projects that haven't finished yet, so we can't get anything done because we're perpetually thrashing on new stuff.
