But don't worry, I get it, nothing anyone can say will convince you because as long as Israel SAYS they're trying not to kill civilians, you'll believe them, regardless of what's actually happening. I refuse to be willfully blind to the atrocities committed by both Israel and Hamas.

Israel literally controls the amount of humanitarian aid that enters Gaza and hundreds of thousands of civilians are starving. That is a policy of war crimes. Not to mention the MANY attacks on hospitals without sufficient evidence to justify it (it's a very high bar that Israel has failed to meet).

It's not what you said, but it's what you meant. You excuse Israel's war crimes, saying they're not intentionally doing it (they are) and it's pretty obvious to me that you will continue to do so. If you can't see what's in front of you, you never will. I'm not going to keep trying to convince you.

Ok, you've adequately answered my question and I now know you will excuse any action taken by Israel, regardless of outcome for innocents. There's no point in discussing this further with you.

Will you call them out on collectively punishing the civilian population by starving them, cutting off their access to clean water and food?

Just curious, is there a line as far as civilian deaths/suffering that Israel could cross where you'd change your mind on supporting their military actions? If so, where is that line? What action is unjustified in your mind? Is there one?

They *say* they don't target civilians, and they'll continue saying that, but their actions prove otherwise. Will you just continue to believe everything they say without question and ignore reality?

Ah ok, I thought you meant they were supporting the actions of Hamas, but it sounds like they're just upset about the deaths of Palestinian civilians, which is not a promotion of terrorism. There is some debate on where you draw the line on what defines genocide, but again, that's not terrorism.

The problem is that they view all Palestinians as Hamas/terrorists/monsters. And so do a lot of people in the West, because they keep accusing people who support the Palestinian people of supporting Hamas.

My vote matters A LOT in local elections, though, and I vote in every one of those. More than once, the candidate I voted for has won by a very slim margin.

I get what you're saying, but in my specific circumstance, my vote will not actually affect anyone either way because my state votes like 60% in favor of GOP, for president and senators, and my GOP congressman wins with nearly 100% of the vote because of gerrymandering.

I actually am rethinking my vote in the national election next year. Like I said on another thread, my state is deeply red, so Biden doesn't stand a chance anyway here. It gives me the freedom to vote my conscience. Guess I'll start looking more closely at the third party candidates.

Trust me, I'm terrified of what will happen if Trump wins again. But if he does, I believe the blame falls squarely on Biden's shoulders for not listening to the voters. I hate that he's chosen the path he has on this issue.

I got piled on yesterday for my comment about Biden, lol. It's so weird that anything short of full support of Biden makes you a Trump supporter in their eyes. In their world, you can't openly criticize a candidate you also vote for. I've always had friends that do that, but here it's something new.

It's both complicated and at the same time really not, when you look at the bottom line. Materially supporting what Netanyahu is doing is simply the wrong thing to do. Cutting off support or putting conditions on it would likely cause complications, but ethically, it's the right thing to do.

Ok let me repeat this AGAIN. I myself will vote for Biden. Criticism of Biden does not mean I support Trump. BUT, there are a lot of voters that are not like me, and will stay home because of this issue. Biden is the one who needs to do the right thing to win their votes. It's on him.

So because they *may* get weapons from another source, we must provide the tools used to commit war crimes? No thanks, I'm not ok with that.

And I get he's walking a tightrope, because apparently there are a lot of liberals who can't fathom that targeting civilians is unacceptable no matter their nationality, which I still cannot comprehend. I don't envy his predicament, but the fact remains that he's materially supporting war crimes.

Replied to someone else answering this question so I'll copy here:
Call for ceasefire, maybe NOT continue sending weapons without even putting conditions on aid to Israel. If he ends up losing, it'll be b/c he didn't take the right position on this issue. And trust me, I don't want Trump to win!

I mean, I agree. I don't want Trump to win any more than you do. But I do want the person I vote for to do the right thing and not support ethnic cleansing. I shouldn't have to choose between two candidates who are both fine with Israel continuing to kill thousands of babies and children.

?? I'm American! Why would the leader of Israel listen to what I have to say? I don't vote in his elections. The only way I can influence his actions is by putting pressure on American politicians so that they may in turn put pressure on him. So I guess in a roundabout way I am? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh I'm definitely not blaming the whole situation on Biden, only his part in it. There's just no point in me protesting against Bibi because I didn't help elect him and he's not the leader of my country. Biden is. Same reason people aren't protesting Hamas. That's silly and pointless.
