Whew, thank you, writer friend. Have been struggling with a high-tension scene today and yeah, all the good thoughts welcomed. 🙂 May you have an epiphany that brings you out of your rough spot!

Haven't read that one yet, and so just added it to my cart!

I love Save the Cat and really got a lot out of Matt Bell's Refuse to Be Done, which I've revisited a few times since it came out last year for different phases of my revisions.

Congratulations! It feels like climbing a mountain, the first novel draft, doesn't it??

Ooo! Tell me more... I work from beat sheets (STC method) as well. What's the "chap method" you've got in the chart? Might need to look that up...

Kudos to you for building a relationship with them wherein they feel they can talk to you about challenging things and you for listening when they did.

Same. Multiple echoes of the same thing and, alas, not much activity.

Not sure I 100% agree there. As people follow like-minded people, predominantly, they therefore predominantly see the content from like-minded people. Even on the large/major platforms.

As you said, the echo chambers prevent most of the differing opinions to cross-pollinate.

My thinking: Depends on the user.

Agreed: Social media isn't a viable medium for discussion and debate, were someone to want that. I don't think they do, most of the time. (Or they're misguided.)

For me and for most of us, social media is a place to find and connect with like-minded people.

Well, now, that Joplin was rather amazing as well!

And now you've got me musing whether one could say ragtime "rocks," which is an interesting question. I mean, yeah? But, differently? Or...?

My thinking: We can and should continue to build a community here, but I agree it likely won't replace the "other" site for a long time--and certainly not while traditional publishers and agents look at traditional social platforms to gauge an author's potential reach.

Did it eventually get picked up elsewhere?

That's the only way to do it! (Well, for me, anyway.)

My first drafts are TERRIBLE. The joy's in the revision, because it's like chipping away the marble to get to the form I see inside.

😆 I mean... France has so much GOOD food that why waste space on the yucky stuff, right?

Yeha, oatmeal isn't something eaten much as a breakfast food by the French, really. However, I've seen it in stores as "flocons d'avoine" or "l'avoine concassée," if that might help you. They don't use a direct translation of the term "steel-cut."

I was a VERY reluctant slow-starter when it came to yoga, breathwork, and meditation, but it's been game-changing for me on many levels.

I use the Glo platform for all the above pretty much every day, if you're looking for recommendations on great places for practitioners at all levels.

TBH, I find France (even in the south), due to the humidity and the clouds, far colder in the winter months than my part of Switzerland (with sun and no humidity). But I promise wherever you are in the south will be well and good hot and sunny by May!
