I was a lab research scientist (started in 1977) working with HeLa cells every single days for years. Until this book was published (I purchased & read it immediately) I had no idea. And started sharing it with my wider group of colleagues. It kindled 2 fires within-women's health, basic science ed

I'm a Boomer, grew up on the Civil Rights Era, Vietnam War Era. Many, not all, of my peers felt the same way about our parents & grandparents generations and how they had somehow "failed". It was hubris and lack of life experience, & depth of knowledge of what they too endured.

I was eldest of 6. Mom taught me to read ~4 yo. I am a big reader, flashlight under the covers. I don't recall her reading to us. She had her hands, hours & minutes full. I read to my kids, they possibly don't remember. But I'm absolutely the "book" Nana. Every 6 wks or so they get a book from me.

We have 'platinum coverage.' Retired military-Tricare Prime til 65, then Medicare Original+Tricare for Life. FedVIP access to vision and dental, so we are pretty well squared away. Most of my distress is with Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) screwy rules, inconsistency in formulary (DOD-DHS issue)
