The father of one of my childhood friends played Odo on DS9!

Journalists do not ascribe motives based on gut feelings; we require explicit evidence to support our claims.

I'm sorry the story didn't work for you. But not sure how you can assert that I ignored the allegations of racism levied during the Romancelandia controversy. I mention it twice in the space of just a few paragraphs, including in Bouzy's own words.

I am, indeed. Though I'd characterize my point slightly differently: I think it'll be tough, if not impossible, for any platform to replicate the spirit of early Twitter. That doesn't mean we're all fated to give up social media; we just might have to re-set our expectations and seek new joys.

Absolutely not. My intention, as always, was to try and craft the most honest, insightful story possible about a vital topic. In addition to being an admired founder, Bouzy is (as he notes in the piece) a human being, and all humans are complex. I aimed to reflect that complexity in my work.

Thank you for the kind words—I poured a lot of labor into the story, so it means a lot to know that it's resonating with folks. There's been a ton of thoughtful feedback/criticism on Spoutible so far, and I hope to engage with those readers in the days to come.

Hey, yes, she watched (and enjoyed) the Netflix version that came out a few years back ("Anne with an E"). Feel like her tastes are now leaning more toward sci-fi/thriller. She's amped for the new Ahsoka series coming to Disney+ in August.

I'm sure he bet against his own team! Though what an odd game to throw—LSU was -245 to win, so he'd have to wager enormous money to justify the risk. I'm gonna guess he didn't totally think this one through (perhaps because he's in desperate circumstances?).

I hear you. I'm pegging it as Likely R: Abbott won re-election last year by 11 points, and it's hard for me to believe Cruz's negatives (even post-Cancun) and Allred's potential advantages (vs. a diminishing Beto) are enough to erase that margin. But I'll be curious to see how well Allred campaigns.

Unfortunately, I just can't see any Democrat winning a statewide election in Texas given current circumstances (+10 R lean, increasing polarization, historical turnout trends). Cruz beat O'Rourke by 2.5 points in 2018, when conditions were as good as they'll get for Ds. Would love to be wrong.

The first performance that popped to mind was Keanu Reeves in "Bram Stoker's Dracula." He was so young and so desperate to prove he had range beyond Ted/Johnny Utah, and that anxiety shines through in nearly every frame.

Obvious self-consciousness. Usually due to either incompetence, a lack of emotional investment in the job, or trying too hard.

A strong candidate running against an opponent with high negatives. He'll raise a lot of money, then ultimately lose by 4-5 points—a decent achievement in a R+10 state.

I've read the complaint in this case. The plaintiff comes off as unhinged, and offers zero proof that the producers were even aware of his work. I suspect the lawsuit will be quickly tossed as frivolous.

LOL. If they go down on goal difference, they're gonna rue not playing more conservatively this half. Though, granted, their defensive bench is pretty thin. At least Summerville is finally on!

They always do this—show signs of life, then immediately fall to pieces. Will be lucky not to give up a 4th goal. (Though worth still watching if they bring on either Gnonto or Summerville—two really fun attackers.)

I've forced myself to watch so much Leeds this season because of the American connection. I've never seen a team less capable of gutting out a 1-0 victory.
