That was a great documentary!

I was living in Venice Beach about the time the doc came out, so it was fun to go check out the places on my own.

White people tend to believe that if we're "not-racist" according to the white people we learn it from, that's enough.

We learn to perform the actions, without ever having to change our minds, which shows up in everything we do.

I find fuck-it more motivational than "We can do it!"

It feels like it allows all outcomes without the pressures of perfectionism.

That helps my brain. :)

Ah well. Giving it some time ain't the worst. Thank you!

Yeah, it seems Astro-turfy to me.

It's not one thing; it's the idea being pushed, the ads, the whole-throated support by media in general, the chatter on social media ... something is off but it's subtle and easily dismissed by most people

Racism is a euphemism so that white people don't have to be reminded that our own internalised white bias and white supremacy is being (appropriately) critiqued.

I thought I knew me. *laughter*

It's startling to discover that my familiar and often frustrating quirks are due to neurology, not a lack of will.

The more I'm learning about my neurology and its effects...it's overwhelming, sometimes.

Low and slow. Decades of stuff to process.

People don't understand just how unimpressed DC natives/long-time residents are by presidents and other transient short-timers.

I remember reading articles about how big mad javanka was that her DC neighbours weren't more impressed.

If anyone's gonna slap, it's going to be DC. *fingers crossed*

Embarrassment means that we've learned and changed.

I mean, we all know what we do, might as well shake our heads, laugh at ourselves, and keep going.

My godmother's family always got non-standard-shaped trees that always took over the living room.

Plus, reading indigenous writers is always good. IMO
