I was invited to a Mastadon site with old Spoutible friends, but turned it down because I love this site and want it to succeed. Sad they don't feel the same.

Spoutible truly feels like a community - one with beautiful gardens and big green parks and graffiti art and beer gardens and loud music and political protests and you, Prof - you're a very big part of it all.

Glad you’re happy here, Kyle.
Spoutible wouldn’t be the same w/out you!
But also sorry to hear that you’re sad.
For some, the grass is always greener….elsewhere.

This spout was removed because the account associated with it was suspended.

I am also sad that some old friends lost their feeling of connection here. I do miss those interactions and fun. I'm so, so glad that you're staying. Your absence would leave a huge hole.

I like to respond to people and Spoutible allows me to do that. Not to mention how giving the people here are with their time as well. Its a working give and take. I'm sorry to see people go but I'm not privy to why.
I enjoy your posts Pro. I'm glad you're here

Thank you, I appreciate that. And I agree – Spoutible is great for interaction.

I missed all the drama that caused this…
I’m sorry that some people felt they needed to leave. With all the block and unfollow tools, I don’t know why they couldn’t customize their feeds to make themselves happy. My feed has been really lovely!

The block & unfollow tools haven’t stopped some people circumventing them to harass some other users who now need to limit their usage for their own safety & well being. Others have their own reasons. Not sure why some have a problem with that, rather than being concerned it’s necessary itfp 🤔

I dunno. The ability to turn off echos per individual is not a feature on Spoutible. It is in Mastodon.

Happy you stayed!
Tried Mastodon, but it really isn't a good fit for my ADHD, neurodivergence, TBI, etc. It felt like a punishment.

I tried it once, but couldn't figure it out (didn't give it enough a chance, though... But then Spoutible came along.)

I tried Mastodon once, and all I got was a desire to get out of there.

how is it that you know how everyone involved feels?
generally I think of you as more careful than to make broad-brush assumptions like that about others
my feelings were heavily affected by being suspended in the absence of any breach of rules. does that factor into your analysis?

No, that's not really part of my analysis in the spout, such as it is. I don't begrudge anyone leaving or cutting back for whatever reason, although what you describe only happened to a few people. The emotion I expressed is sadness; I wasn't delving into individual reasoning.

Isn’t that creepy David Weismann involved with the group that started Mastadon? I thought he said that awhile back before I stopped going to Twitter. I don’t trust him.

Not sure why this is an either/or? People are allowed to hang wherever. Some can’t hang with friends here for whyever, some have been repeatedly bullied, some just like multiple sites. But no one there wants Spoutible to fail, or wants to “lure” people away. You do you.

But so far it is an either/or. Most of the people who've left post here a fraction of what they did or not at all. That's fine – of course everyone can do what they want. I'm just sad and disappointed.

Idk, for me you articulated the problem with Mastodon - you were invited to "a" Mastodon site. This is just a much better and more coherent experience than anything on the federated model 🤷♂️
