I was one of those who decided to wait patiently when @cbouzy announced his idea to create this site. 😊🐳
ps: in all those polls I didn’t always get what I voted for. It didn’t make me scream I didn’t get what I want, grab my toys and go home. Nor did I whine about it at the bad place.

um... too late. I spent a lot of time trying to navigate & enjoy Mastodon. Spoutible is more engaging & easier to navigate.

I think social media has fractured. No one thing will satisfy all desires or be the source of all you want to see. For my money Spoutible was intuitive and feature rich when I arrived. It'll keep getting better. There will be folks I valued hearing from who go to Bluesky. Just the nature of it.

I expect that the sheer popularity of Spoutible over Mastodon will require them to do so.

Same here. I started reading stuff like "you can sign up on this server, but you can also communicate with people on other servers, etc etc" and my eyes started to glaze over.
Spoutible's big advantage is the zero learning curve.

This was the Counter Social page when I signed up in Oct. I thought it looked like the Bloomberg stock trading app & would never catch on. They now have a single column view. I was also criticized for saying Mastodon's "pick a server" was too much of an obstacle. Obviously, I stand by my comments.

While I do have a presence on Mastodon, it’s not my top priority over there. I had a feeling they would remain niche due to how decentralized and complicated it is. Spoutible is at least simple and effective to use

I remember on Twitter people started describing Mastodon with "all you need to do is" — and I was like, "um, no."

I don't necessarily consider myself a Luddite when it comes to computers & websites, but Mastodon had me reconsidering that stance. I've rarely been as frustrated as I was trying to figure it out. I gave up after a couple of hours. Spoutible is better all the way around, and so much more pleasant.

thread 2 Threaded Spouts
Making fun of rapists and using rape as a source of “comedy” in no way, shape, or form helps in seeking Justice for victims. It doesn’t “shine light on the crime,” or make people more aware. It trivializes one of the most brutal things that can be done to a person, while making light of victims…
Pete Sapardi @PeteSapardi
Making fun of rapists for raping is serving the cause of shaming rapists. It does nothing to diminish the crimes or the pain of the victims. Rather, it shines a light on the perps in the hope people become aware of those crimes and seek justice for the victims.

This person is doubling down on making abelist jokes as well as jokes about rape. He refuses to listen to what he has been told regarding jokes about rape being hurtful to victims of rape and in no way helpful to getting justice for victims. He thinks that joking about Donald’s use of adult…

It's so comforting to know that Pete will be here, making jokes about violent crimes, without any concern for how that makes victims feel, because he's all principled and shit.

There's been a pattern the last several days.

Person spouts hurtful "joke."
People hurt by hurtful joke explain why.
"Joker" says it's ok because it REALLY hurts target who will never see it.
People say, no, it hurts me.
"Joker" digs in.

Feels kind of trolly to me.
